Busy! Busy! Busy!

What a fun week of learning we have had in Room this week!
On Monday we held our class competition to see whose mangonel could fire a marshmallow the furthest.  Ollie and Charle's took out first place firing a marshmallow 10m.  Whilst Jasper and Charlie's came in 2nd place firing a marshmallow 9.5m.  On Tuesday we held the Kahikatea Syndicate Final.  These two mangonels were clear winners. Well done boys!

On Wednesday we had our annual Kahikatea Athletics Day.  We rotated around a range of athletic sports.  To finish off the morning we had relay races.  Room 5 dominated and won both the boys and girls relay races!

This week in Maths we have been learning all about mapping, compass points and writing and following directions.  To help us with this Sally set us the task of drawing a birds eye view map of the playground.  We the had to write instructions for a buddy to find some treasure (a lollypop) hidden in the playground.  This was a lot of fun!
