Dress Up Day!

What a fun day we had today celebrating the end of New Zealand Book Month. Many of us dressed up as one of our favourite book characters.

What a day we've had!  To kick start it off we visited the amazing Extraordinary Exhibitions at the Nelson Museum.  This is based upon the Cawthron Research Institution and all the different areas they are involved with.  After morning tea we carried on practicing our plays and two of the groups presented their plays to us.  To end the day we had a session with Gary from Nelson Cricket.  What an interesting and varied day we had!

Ryan the Lion

Each week our class mascots Ryan the Lion and George spend the weekend with somebody from Room 5 who has been a great role model.  Last weekend Ryan the Lion spent the weekend with Paige as she had been an awesome role model by being polite and using her manners.  Check out some of the fun Ryan had with Paige.

Here are most of us with our little buddies from Room 11.  We meet up with them every second Friday.

Inquiry Mindmaps

Last week as part of our inquiry task Sally put us into groups. She put us into groups of people who had the same 'Wise/Multiple Intelligence' as us. She set us the task of creating an acitivity that our class could do with our little buddies during a buddy time. First we mindmapped our ideas on our own and then we combined all our ideas into one big mindmap. We used Inspiration on the computer to show these ideas. Check out our ideas below.

Goal Setting

Here is our quick brainstorm of possible goals we could come up with ready for our parent teacher interviews. Remember to make your goal something that you can measure. *Expand it to full screen to view it easily.

Swimming!

Sadly our swimming carnival had to be cancelled due to the pool being too cold.  However, to celebrate all the great progress that we made in swimming this term we had a celebration swim at Riverside Pool today.  Some of our parents also joined us.  We especially enjoyed having Sally swim with us and making trains with her.

Suter

Today we visited the exhibition 'Its a small world' at the Suter Art Gallery.  We saw pottery create by Paul Winspear and watched a DVD of the process that he goes through to create them.  We then viewed am amazing installation of a world map by Ruth Watson made out entirely of broken glass!  After this we made our own pottery bowls with a NZ flavour!  Sally was too busy helping us and forgot to take any photos of us whilst we were creating.  Check back later to see them once we have painted them

Purple Cake Day

We had Purple Cake Day yesterday. We were fundraising for Nepal. We made mandalas and hope flags.

 We dressed up in purple and we had purple juices.
