Mahi Toi, Inquiry and Leadership Award

Well done to Floss who was selected from all NCS students to be awarded the Sir Peter Blake Leadership Award. She was selected because of her great commitment and involvement both at Nelson Central and the wider environment.

Last term the Totara Syndicate had an arts interchange where we were involved in dance, drama and visual arts workshops. Check out our final results below.

Here is another video from last terms EnviroSchool Inquiry Project.
Here is their vision for what our school will look like 10 years on joining the EnviroSchool Programme.

One MASSIVE Week!

Term 2 well and truly ended with a bang!  It has been one action packed week!

On Monday a number of students from Room 2 participated in the Regional Cross-Country Champs. This involved shools from all around the Nelson/Tasman Region. Well done to Nills who placed second.

On Wednesday we had Totara Trading. This was a chance for us to spend our Totara Dollars that we had earnt throughout the term as part of our class reward system.  Sally was particularly impressed by Sabine's stall where she sold beautiful handwarmers she had personally made. Way to go Sabine!

We were also treated to performances by Sylvie and Floss at lunchtime as part of Zoe's group of students who she tutors.

On Thursday NCS held their very first student led conferences. As part of this we shared our learning with our parents, completed Reading and Maths tasks together and played a fun Maths quiz game on Kahoot against other families. Most of us were very proud to be sharing our learning with our whanau.

And to wrap up the week we had our own class party. This was a part of our Statistics Investigations where we investigated Room 2's favourite flavour of chips, jelly, chocolate etc. Look at the delicious spread that we enjoyed!  What a great way to end Term 2!

Our week!

What a great week we've had in Room 2. Check out some of the action we have been involved with!

On Tuesday a number of us participated in the Inter-School Cross Country event at Branford Park with several other Nelson City Schools.  It was a great course with many creak crossings and lots and lots of mud!

Well done to Nil's who once again won the Year 5 Boys race and contributed to NCS also winning the Year 5 Boys team event

We have also carried on with the Keeping Ourselves Safe Programme. During one of the lessons this week we talked about bribes, secrets and tricks.  Here are several of us analysing a cartoon.

In Maths we are focussing on Statistics. As part of this everyone has carried out their own statistical investigation in order to plan a fantastic class party. We look forward to having this at the end of the term.

On Thursday many of us had our final water safety session at Riverside Pool.  We had lots of fun using the inflatable boats and talking about safety on boats.
