See-saw!

In reading we have been focussing on re-telling.  Listen below to hear Tilly and Niall re-tell their story from this week!

In Maths we are focussing on multiplication and division.  The Division Dinosaurs created their own little videos to share some of the strategies that they have been learning.

When Sally is reading to us we are allowed to massage each other. This week a big group of us decided to make a massage circle!

Finally we were lucky enough to have Grayson's kitten Spot visit us. She was a stray kitten that a farmer found.  Spot is a very confident wee kitten!

Out and About!

A number of us have been out and about this week. On Monday a group of Totara Students were lucky enough to go to a Science Roadshow at Waimea College. There we learnt about such things as thermal cameras, physical and chemical changes and the human body.

On Wednesday Sally took our Enviro Agents to the Enviroschools Moturoa Mission at Rabbit Island.  At this event they had to race around and find stations and complete challenges related to topics of salt water habitats, pest control and sustainable logging. Thanks Caitlin and Nelson for representing Room 2!

Sardines, celebrating and & St Patricks Day

This week in Room 2 we've got really stuck into reading, writing and maths!

In reading we are focussing on activating our prior knowledge. We all read articles about various animals.  One group read an article about the Maud Island frog and then made daioramas of their habitat.

In writing we are focussing on memoirs. On Thursday we played a game of sardines.  This is where one person hides and everyone else has to find them and then join them.  We then had to write about our experiences focussing on using lots of interesting adjectives.  Damp, muddy and squishy were adjectives that many of us used!

We have been lucky enough to have Sam from Nelson Bays Rugby come and take us for some rugby skills recently.  Thanks Sam!

Nelson is celebrating Race Unity Day on Sunday. So to celebrate our syndicate shared kai together.

And to wrap up our week we were treated to some Irish dancing from the Star Academy to celebrate St Patricks Day.

Marahau Camp!

At the end of February we were lucky enough to go to Marahau for our annual school camp.  We had lots of fun exploring local places such as the Ngarua Caves and walking some of the Abel Tasman track from Marahau to Anchorage.  We also enjoyed activities in around camp such as paddleboarding, cooking damper and smores, swimming and exploring inside the tower. Check out some of our Google Slideshows to see the fun we had!
