Lots of fun and learning

It's been all go in Room 5 this week. On Monday we held our elections for Kahikatea Ambassadors on the student council. Nine brave children shared a speech at our assembly as to why they should be on the student council. Congratulations to Brook and Lucy from Room 8 who were elected as our ambassadors for 2013. 

This week we were lucky enough to have Imo, Jack's Grandma come and teach us about animal classification. Imo used to teach us at the museum. She obviously loves teaching a lot as she still wants to be involved even after retiring.

Room 5 Class Charter

At Nelson Central School we have a Human Rights Focus.  As part of this we focus on our rights and our responsibilities.  Check out our class charter below.

Water Fun Games

 The water fun games yesterday...

The Kihikatera classes did an amazing water day.

 We had fun & wet hats.

And nothing could stop us from getting wet.

There were 5 games & wet pants.

We had holes in bags & buckets full of water.

And all so flower cups with holes on the bottom.

Mama Marie's coconut cookies

As part of literacy we have read a story called 'Monkey buys trouble'. In this story a cheeky monkey steals Mama Marie's famous coconut cookies. So this week we made Mama Marie's famous coconut cookies. Some of us liked it so much that we brought our Mum's in to get the recipe. Look out for the recipe in a later blog post.

Fantastic First Week

We've had a fantastic first week in Room 5. We have had fun getting to know each other, catching up with old friends and making new friends.

We also had fun making creating some artwork with a monkey theme after reading a story called Monkey Buys Trouble.

Today we met our little buddies from Room 10.  Some of us were very excited as this was our first time being a big buddy.
