Fun, fun, fun!

We've had another good week in Room 5 this week.  Our highlights this week were:

Co-operative Musical Chairs
As part of our inquiry we have been developing our class charter.  We decided that in order for us to be happy in Room 5 it is our responsibility to co-operate with others.  We had a little fun practicing this whilst playing co-operative musical chairs.

Little Buddies
We met our little buddies again this week and had our photos taken with them.

Swimming
For many of us our highlight this week has been swimming even though the pool has been rather chilly at times! Today we enjoyed a fun swimming session with Room 6 and 7

Homework Blog

As our new school website is having a few teething issues please follow the link below to the Kahikatea Homework Blog

A = Archie, B = buddies and C = Can do attitude!

We've had another great week in Room 5.

On Thursday Sally's little kitten Archie came and visited.  As part of our inquiry topic we began thinking about wants and needs.  We thought about all the things that Archie needs and wants to survive.  We then discussed what children need to be happy, safe and healthy. We had an interesting discussion about whether you need education and a name to be happy, safe or healthy.

Today we had a Kahikatea tryathalon with a difference.  We were split up into teams and either swam, ran or scootered.  Sally was really proud of the way we all had a 'Can do' attitude and gave it a go!

Today we also met our little buddies from Room 10.  Many of us were really excited because this is the first time that we get to be the big buddies.

2015!

Welcome to 2015!
We have kicked off 2015 with a blast in Room 5.  On Tuesday Sally was so excited to catch up with all her old friends and welcome her new friends in.

We have had a lot of fun this week.  We read a funny story called 'Monkey buys trouble'.  In this story the monkey tries to buy some Coconut cookies.  Instead he ends up getting a bag full of trouble.  So this week for our art we painted our very own monkeys.

Can you work out which part of our body we used to paint them?

We also had fun baking our very own coconut cookie slice.  It tasted delicious!
