Animals, Swimming & Purple!

What a week we've had in Room 5! Animals, swimming and purple sums it up well!

On Tuesday we visited Natureland as part of our inquiry topic on animal classification.  We got to meet a wide range of animals including a tuatara, porcupine and lots of very small baby mice! After this we enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Tahuna Playground

Today we held our Kahikatea Swimming Carnival.  We each chose to swim in a length or width race and then we joined with 2 other classes for a class display. Finally we ended the event with a class relay.  We were very proud that we came 2nd out of 5 classes. To see more photos click here to visit our class facebook page

Today we also celebrated Purple Cake Day.  This day is all about kids helping kids all over the world.  At Nelson Central School we raised over $600. This money will be used to help educate and care for children in countries such as Nepal and Kenya.  We were lucky enough to have Caleb's Mum bake us a cake and Emily's Mum come in paint many of our faces!  To check out more photos click here to visit our class facebook page.
